[Edgy] VMware에 Guest OS로 Ubuntu Edgy Eft 설치하기

설치환경

OS	Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
CPU	AMD64 베니스 3000+ ( no over )
RAM	DDR PC3200 512MB * 2ea  DDR PC3200 256MB * 1ea  DDR PC2700 256MB * 1ea
HDD	여유공간 21GB
글픽	ATI X700 PCI-Express

설치 순서

1. vmware에 OS(windows server)를 설정한다.
2. VMware에서 New-Virtual Machine선택하여 가상머신을 추가한다.
    ● New Virtual Machine Wizard실행. 각 세부사항을 설정한다.

 - Virtual Machine Configuration : Typical
 - Guest Operating System : Linux
    Version : Ubuntu
 - Virtual Machine Name : EdgyEft_Desk
    Location : D:\VM_OS\EdgyEft_Desk
 - Network Connection : Use network address translation[NAT]
 - Disk capacity : 20G

3. EdgyEft_Desk라는 새로운 탭이 생성될 것이다. 운영체제를 설치할 준비가 된 것이다.
4. EdgyEft_Desk의 운영체제의 CD-Rom에 Ubuntu 설치 iso파일을 넣는다.

- Device->CD-ROM을 더블클릭하거나, 왼쪽분할창의 Edit Virtual machine Settings를 클릭한다.
- 새로운 창에서 Hardware  Tab에서 CD-ROM을 선택한다.
- connection에서 Use ISO image를 선택하고 ISO파일이 있는 경로를 지정해 준다.

5. 메뉴의 Commands->Start this virtual machine을 선택한다.

    잘 설명이 되어 있다.

참고 : 우분투 엣지의 종류는 3가지가 있다.
버전의 차이가 아니다.
Desktop / Alternate / Server 의 3종류가 있다.

Desktop : 말 그대로 리눅스를 잘 모르는 사용자를 위한 버전이다. 그래도 기본 지식은 필요해야

              사용 가능한 버전이다.

Alternate :  좀 아는게 있는데 옛날 버전을 아는 사람을 위한 배포판이다. 내공이 높은 사람이

                 사용하길 권한다.

Server : 오로지 우분투 방식을 이용한 LAMP 버전이다. 웹서버를 돌리기 위한 배포판이다.

6. 모든 설정을 마치고  Install을 누르면 설치가 시작된다. 기다리자.

7. 모든 설치가 종료되면 ISO 파일을 빼고(Use ISO image말고 CD-ROM을 사용하도록 체크) Enter를 누른다.

8. VMware Tools를 설치한다.
8.1 우분투를 종료.
     우분투가 기동중이라면 종료를 한다.

8.2 우분투 기동.
     VMware에서 Start this Virtual machine으로 우분투를 기동(부팅)한다.

8.3  Install VMware Tools 명령 주기
     VMware의 메뉴에서 [VM]-[Install VMware Tools]를 선택한다.

8.4 우분투의 바탕화면에 DVD-ROM으로 VMware Tools라는 아이콘이 생성된다.
     클릭하여 내용물을 보면  tar.gz, rpm 확장자의 두 파일이 존재하는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
     압축파일을 풀어 설치할 수도 있고, rpm을 deb로 변환하여 설치할 수도 있다.
     여기서는 압축파일을 풀어 설치하도록 한다.

8.5 압축파일 풀기
     압축파일을 특정 디렉토리에 푼다.그리고 압축을 푼 디렉토리로 이동하면 디렉토리 안에
     vmware-install.pl 파일이 존재한다. 이 파일로 vmware tools를 설치한다.

8.6 설치하기
     터미널에서 "sudo ./wmware-install.pl" 명령문을 입력. password를 입력한다.
     터미널에 아래과 같은 메시지가 나타나 입력을 요구한다. 적당한 답(?)을 입력한다.
     대부분 그냥 엔터를 입력하면 된다. 그리고 뒷부분에 해상도를 묻는 질문이 나오는데 적당한 해상도를 입력한다.

To use the vmxnet drive, restart networking using the following commands:
/etc/init.d/networking stop
rmmod pcnet32
rmmod vmxnet
depmod -a
modprobe vmxnet
/etc/init.d/networking start

이러면 정상적으로 VMware Tools가 설치가 된다...마지막에도 나온다...즐기란다...ㅡ.ㅡ
또한 설치가 완료되면 재부팅을 한다..

9. xorg.conf파일을 확인한다.
     VMware Tools를 설치하게 되면 설치전에 잘 작동하던 마우스의 휠 기능이 제대로 작동하지 않는다.
     이 때는  /etc/X11/xorg.conf 파일을 확인한다. 에디터로 확인 가능하다.
     내용 중에 "Configured Mouse" Section에서 Protocol의 값을 확인한다.
     일반적인 휠 마우수일 경우엔 protocol을 "ExplorerPS/2"로 변경한다.
     저장하고 나온다.

10. 이제 휠 마우스가 정상적으로 작동하는지 확인한다.

여기까지 우분투 설치하는 방법을 알아보았다.
